Every Good Plan Needs Someone Who Knows Where Everything Is.
Parker comes from a long line of career butlers who were exceptionally good at taking care of families — one family in particular, the Pettigrews.
For generations, the Parkers quietly managed the details behind the walls of Pettigrew Manor. Then one day, after a lifetime of service, our Parker decided it was time to retire.
Then came the day he discovered he wasn't quite as prepared to take care of himself.
A Very Good Butler Retires.
The Parkers and the Pettigrews began in London, in a grand home where everything was managed much as it had been for generations. When Mr. Pettigrew was promoted to CEO of a great American bank, both families relocated to Miami and carried on much as they always had.
Parker handled the details, made perfect tea, ran to the post and quietly made certain life worked the way it was supposed to work.
Eventually, Parker decided he'd earned retirement. With few expenses and decades of sensible investing behind him, he moved into a Cotswold-like townhouse of his own, just a few miles from the beach.
Parker's First Real “Oh No!” Moment.
Just days after unpacking his treasured china, clocks and family albums, Parker's phone buzzed with a hurricane warning.
He did what many perfectly sensible people do when something frightening happens: he panicked.
Parker grabbed blankets and coats, tried to protect everything he cherished and rode out the storm with no real idea what he should do. He and his belongings survived, but the power grid and cell towers failed — and Parker suddenly realized something astonishing.
Start With The First Thing You Need To Know.
When the streets finally cleared enough to travel, Parker found the only transportation he could: a Vespa. He turned the ignition and headed back to Pettigrew Manor.
The house was still standing, but both families were overwhelmed and had no idea where to begin.
So they made one list. Then another. And another — everything they had never needed to know before, and everything they suddenly realized their lives might depend on.
And Then He Found Get Your Stuff Together.
For the first time in his life, Parker realized he needed someone else to show him what to do next.
He Vespaed down the street to the only open bookstore and found a copy of Get Your Stuff Together.
Parker and his family worked through it step by step, learning how to keep the people, information and things they loved safer and easier to find. Then Parker took the Pettigrews through the same process until both households were buttoned up and shipshape.
This Time, Parker Smiled.
A few weeks later, another hurricane warning appeared on Parker's phone.
This time, he knew what to do.
As he went to close the window, Parker noticed another family outside, wandering aimlessly and clearly unsure where to begin. He pulled on his slicker, stepped outside and called to them.
“How May I Be Of Service?”
Parker appeared at Get Your Stuff Together headquarters, told Laura and Jan his story and offered a very proper bow.
And that is how Parker became the Ready In Ten™ Concierge — helping families find the next practical step when life suddenly goes sideways.
