What is Get Ready?
Get Ready‘s goal is to donate at least 200,000 free copies of the PDF version of our books Ready, Connected and Listo En 10 to families who were impacted by recent hurricanes, wildfires, mudslides & volcanoes. Our mission is to give families the vital tools and resources they need to deal with emergencies and natural disasters before they happen.
We’re Laura and Janet Greenwald, one of the only mother and daughter writing teams in the entertainment industry, authors of the books “Get Your Stuff Together”, “Notify In 7,” “Ready” and “Connected, creators of the popular blog Connected and co-founders of the Next of Kin Education Project.
After the recent hurricanes and wildfires, we launched Get Ready, to give families who were impacted by those disasters the vital tools and resources they need to deal with emergencies before they happen. With the help of sponsors including Iridium Satellite Phones, our goal is to donate at least 200,000 free downloadable copies of the PDF versions of our newest books Ready, Connected & Listo En 10 to families in Texas, Florida, California, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
How It All Began
The concept for Get Ready began years ago when we were introduced to emergency readiness the hard way, when a 737 crashed across the street from our home, followed by years living in earthquake-prone Southern California. But it was a medical situation – one that took the life of my grandmother Elaine Sullivan – that propelled us into new territory, which resulted in our writing and enacting three Next of Kin Laws in two states.
Since then, through our books, our blog and our revolutionary 2 Minute Smart Contact, we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of families across America with our Action Plans and Grab It And Go Forms. Quickly surpassing 750,000 hits, our blog, according to Google, is the top ranking source for information of its kind, worldwide.
